Tonight I caught a few moments of the knockout rounds between a couple of Christina Aguilera's team mates. One of them was a greatly gifted 16 year old girl. I can't remember her name, but I remember something Christina said to her, and I can't shake the exchange and response.
"I see a little bit of me in you., " Christina exclaimed.
The young girl got extremely excited and could not believe that THE CHRISTINA AGUILERA was saying that about her. Here is a young girl having a role model telling her of the greatness that is inside of her (granted Christina is talented but not necessarily the greatest of role models) and those words have probably set and fueled her path to work in pursing greatness.
I can't get it out of my head because here's the thing...we should be doing that too, with those that look up to us. No matter our age, experience, successes, failures, coolness or geekness...we have someone who looks up to us. They want to know what we see in them AND we could set their course by telling them what we see. It doesn't take being a Christina, Cee Lo, Adam, or Blake OR being on National TV to have that opportunity. You have it every day. It doesn't have to be a dramatic experience with a microphone, smoke, lights, lazers, and a crowd. It just has to be sincere.
Call out the greatness you see in someone and see them be great.
