Heading to Honduras

HONDURAS UPDATES
Wednesday
Plane landed in Honduras at 11:20 am. No rain during landing...thank goodness.
It took a while at customs b/c they checked us all for diseases and viruses...especially Swine Flu. We were all clear.
We rode a bus and had a small hike/walk to finally reach our destination...a ranch in Junquillo.
The ranch was all built by hand by trees from neighboring yards.
They took us to a restaurant when we arrived...good thing b/c we were really hungry.

Our living arrangements are nice...outhouse building for restroom usage....water hoses/sprinkler ran from a lake to be able to take showers. Girls actually have warm water...the ranch owner rigged that up for us. We get to take showers at night.

Thursday
The day started early. For breakfast we had eggs, potatoes, refried beans, and tortillas. It was very good. Today we took an old roof off of a 93 year old man's house and put a new tin roof on.
We started a VBS in the afternoon. The kids go to school here until 12:00. They started coming to VBS after school and kept showing up until after 4:00. They had told us to plan for 20-40 children...we had over 60. God is awesome!
It was a hard-working day, but worth it in every way.
Dinner was good...chicken, tortillas, refried beans, and potatoes. Beans will be a part of every meal I believe.

Friday-Sunday
We aren't able to begin building the well because we are the only group here. It takes many to make that happen. We have laid concrete flooring in homes where there were dirt floors. We put a concrete floor and concrete walls in a home where there is a family of 7. There house consists of one room and a kitchen. There entire home is smaller than our prayer room at church. After we finished, the mother decided she was going to get a new stove built since she had a "new home." We have done VBS everyday...there have been way more children than expected. The kids love playing games (they have none). They love making crafts....construction paper is amazing to them. They love anything you give them to play with b/c they do not have toys of their own.

Monday
We are finished with our projects so we were able to go into town. We just spent time walking around, seeing the people, and relaxing. We had a cook out tonight for all the families that we worked with this week. When I started packing, I had a huge surprise waiting for me in my bed...a palm-sized tarantula (no joke). They told us that the one in my bed was a small one...they get much larger. I am wishing I would have checked my bedding more carefully all week.

Tuesday
As of 4:30 the team was stuck in the airport in Honduras due to the fog/cloudiness. They may have to spend the night there 2nite and leave in the morning. Will continue to update if I can.

Hey Thanks for checking back here at FindingMoore. I know my blog has been a little thin lately mostly because that is what my spare time has been. We will be leaving for Junquillo, Honduras Wednesday (June 10th) and returning Tuesday (June 16th). Hopefully if this works right, I will be able to update my Twitter Status via text messages. Check back regularly to find out what we are doing! So below you'll find a short video of where we are going, and the names of us who are going. Please take a minute and say a prayer for our safety and that we are humbly obedient in serving and sharing Christ with the people of Junquillo.
