Vision pt 2 (why do you run)

After my post this morning and in finishing up my message for tonight I stumbled across this clip from Chariots of Fire. I've never seen the movie except the opening scene, but everyone knows the theme song. The movie is about Eric Lidell of Scotland who ran in the 1924 Olympics. He was picked to win gold in the 100 meter, however he didn't even compete. The race was to be on Sunday, and Eric's Christian convictions prevented him from running on the Sabbath. If he ran on the Sabbath he would no longer be running for the One who created him. Instead he switched with a team mate and ran the 400 meter event, something he had not ever trained for.

This is a great reminder of where our strength, purpose, and joy should come from.

Isaiah 40:31
'But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and be not weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.'
