Controversy...maybe

Think about this…I did.

The other day I overheard a reporter on AFR (American Family Radio) declaring victory in Washington State as the State’s Supreme Court overruled a petition to recognize gay and homosexual marriages. The reporter made other comments about how much work the organization behind getting this into the Senate has been doing ( I don’t remember who they are), and how many more signatures were needed to get the petition into the Nations Senate. And I thought this….

Will a law really change the hearts of those the law is for?

I understand that we must protect what God has stated “ a man will leave his family and take a wife” (not a man) and I am completely against the act of homosexuality. But will creating a new law actually change the hearts of those who are bound by the sin.

What is our purpose as Christians in relation to Homosexuality? To create a law to protect us or to share our faith and God’s love to make them right with God? Instead of focusing time and energy on creating new laws (which will not save or change anyone by the way – check out Romans3,4 & 5), why not lovingly reveal their sin to them, and share our faith, our love, our life, and our Savior with them.

Romans 3:28- A person is made right with God through faith, not by obeying the law.
v.31 So do we destroy the law by following the way of faith? NO! Faith causes us to be what the law truly wants.

A new law will not help them to suddenly realize that what they are doing is wrong. But finding a relationship with the One who created them will.

The reporters were celebrating the fact that their might be a new law to prevent Homosexual Marriages across the US. BUT! How much more, would Heaven celebrate, if through us sharing Christ’s love, their hearts were changed one at a time!?

I dunno …something to think on..
