How do you feel when you love someone? What emotions run through you? What actions do you take?
When you love someone, your heart is full when you see them or with them. When you love someone, you want the very best for them. When you love someone, you would do anything to keep them from getting hurt. When you love someone, it hurts you deeply when they are hurt. When you love someone, and they have left you...you will do whatever you can to get them back. When you truly love someone, no matter what they have done you want them to come back and be by your side. You are Jealous for them. They are yours and no one else's. No one else has the right to claim that person. When you love someone you are jealous of ANYTHING that steals their attention from you.
God feels the same about you and I.
"One of God's names is Jealous. Do not worship any other god, for the LORD whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. (Exodus 34:14). But His jealousy isn't selfishness. Since HE IS PERFECT AND LOVING there is no one and nothing better for us to love.
Because God passionately loves us, He hates anything that threatens us or keeps us from experiencing His love. He is hurt when we go elsewhere for love. When we disobey He is angry because He knows the way we are living is not the best way and it is hurting us. He's jealous of anything that steals our hearts from his, because He knows those things are traps and are unworthy of our affection. Yet in the midst of all of that, He always loves us. He sacrificed His life to pay for sin and make a way for us to be with Him - even though sin contradicts who He is and He hates it. he did it because that's what you so when you love someone. Husbands look at your wives - Wives look at your husbands - Parents look at your children.
Right now feel the love that you have for them...let that emotion run through you and FEEL IT. Now know, at this very moment your Heavenly Father is looking over you with the same feeling running through His Heart. Just as your love for that person that you are seeing right now will never change no matter what they do...His love for you will never change for you no matter what you have done....
Let Him be Jealous for you...
